The Deeeep Freeze

So the capital region has been engulfed in a cold snap and you may have thought I perished in the cold judging by the lack of activity here. But fret not my pets I am once again back to entertain you at a time when there is nothing more to do than stay indoors and play with yourself quietly in the corner. It's been so cold my brakes actually froze on my car the other day. Granted, I warmed it up for about 2 minutes but that's beside the point.

Well, since I've been gone Doogie has come out of the closet (big surprise), Pam and Kid Rock have once again split up and Kramer has basically sabotaged his already fast-sinking career by going on a racial tirade. Maybe Micheal Richards thought this would help his career or at least make people think of him for the first time since Seinfeld. The funny thing is he had no excuse for doing it other than he lost his temper. It'd be different if he said he high on smack or mescaline at the time. Then it might be understandable; soon after there'd be an intervention, rehab and then he would return and make a triumphant comeback at the Seinfeld reunion. But, sadly, that'll never happen. In this space I was gonna provide a video of snippets of his outburst added to some of Kramer's funniest moments but I believe it's been removed from youtube. It was quite humorous. You can, however, check it out at www.bbboris.blogspot.com (the November 24th entry). I, like Bbboris Norris, do not condone racism in any way.

Fleets loves the box

Yes indeed I do. I'm talking about watching a game in one of the skyboxes at Rexall, get your minds out of the gutter folks. Last weekend I had the opportunity to watch a game in a box at the Oilers/Blackhawks game and I don't think I can go back. Free food, beer, good company, I felt like I was somebody. It was like I was important, looking out over the commoners in their tiny seats drinking their overpriced heroin beer while I lounged around comfortably like I was watching the game at home. I was barely paying attention to the actual game, I was having so much fun. You oughta try it sometime, it's like first class compared to everyone else languishing in coach. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

Speaking of the Oilers they were on a roll until the disappointment of last night. To put the cherry on top, Hemsky also got injured. It turned out to be a pretty good, tight-checking game all the way through. The Chris Pronger saga turned out to be nothing more than an afterthought. Edmonton fans have too much class to have mad it any more than a boofest. The game ended in typical Oiler fashion. Countless times I have seen them hold a lead into the dying seconds only to have their opponent score after a flurry of activity in our zone. It ends up being a shooting gallery and it's a wonder why we haven't lost more games in that fashion. Nothing's ever easy in oilerland. One positive at the moment, the oil own the best penalty-kill in the whole league. Who knew? As an aside on the Pronger story, I saw a report on the game tonight on the score. And could you guess who was reporting on the details from Edmonton, none other than Christy Chorley, Pronger's rumored mistress. Coincidence, I think not.

To finish up, heard a while ago from Jabronii JB how good 'Entourage' was and I have recently had the opportunity to check it out for myself. I agree whole-heartedly, nudity, foul language and comedy all in one, how can you go wrong? Where was a show like this when I was a kid, watching TV at 10 pm on a thursday night?

Lastly, digging the new Clipse album "Hell Hath No Fury". It seems like the Neptunes save all their hot beats for these guys. Truly a cut above. That's a hell of a lot more than I can say for the new Jay-z album. Judging by this pis-poor effort(by his standards) he should have stayed retired and not come back, a la Jordan, to stink the joint up. I give it two smashed Cristal bottles out of ten. Maybe he needs another beef with Nas to give him a kick in the ass next time. He just seems too comfortable this time around. Then again, maybe it's just me.

MMMMMM

As I sit here and contemplate life and why I exist I can't help but think, I really like white russians! That new Starbucks cream liquer works just like Bailey's and w/ skim milk it really deosn't taste all that bad. I'm pretty much addicted to them before I go to bed. I wouldn't usually buy that type of liquer but it was a housewarming gift from one of the jabronis. I won't say who got it for me but let's just say he was obscenely drunk this weekend at jabroni BP's swearing in parte. And what a night that was so I don't blame him. It all started with free booze (for real) at Laura B's and then it was on. We basically shut down hudson's downtown after fights (imagine that, Pinner involved in a bar fight, that's never happened before!), high school reunions and a dancing the night away. The night didn't end until we had stuffed ourselves full of free food back at BP's/Laura's (once again, I don't lie) and crashed near 6 am at Casa Del Moi. Believe you me, we took advantage of the free shit while we could, it might never, ever happen again. All in all it was like three nights in one. Speaking of three nights, I completed the now not so rare(for me anyway) tripleheader after heading out sunday night. CVO is such a bad influence. I keep saying this but I really need to chill.

So the mighty oil are somehow still in the playoff hunt even though they've had the consistency of week-old mashed potatoes lately. They've been as stale as dumpster donuts and the only saving grace was their victory in Colorado to finish the road trip at .500. Let's hope the Ryan Smyth scare wakes up a few people (Pasani, Bergeron, Horcoff etc. etc.) and we stop depending on Roli to save our bacon. Was it me or was Jussi just plain awful against St. Louis. I really thought he would have a renewed confidence after his Stanley Cup final performance last year but so far I am wrong. And does anyone else get annoyed whenever Mac T speaks. Say something useful for once, instead of a bunch of boring BS.

So I purchased the new Trail of Dead album, "So Divided". I have to be honest, after reading the reviews I was expecting a disappointment similar to Dj Shadow's album earlier this fall. But after a couple of listens, I'm liking it especially the songs, "wasted state of mind" and "eight days of hell". The last song, "sunken dreams" is also good. Pure Pink Floyd bombast. Some of the songs do tend to go on a little and there are some misses but, really, it's a good addition to my collection. I am and always will be a fan of this band. It's sad that they aren't more popular but I like it this way. I can't really see them getting many new fans with this record, unfortunately. Especially with unadventurous people like McDuffe around.

One last thought, I really don't like people very much. I went to the mall (when did it become a haven for trailer trash?) and Superstore (I despise this store) after work and I really would have rather ripped my toe nails out. Other than that, I had a good time.

Tuesday Blues
OMG! Just saw the plays of the week. Petr Prucha got obliterated by Kyle McClaren. As the 'Score' analyst said, "He broke his everything!". Also, the dunk of the night, Dontae Jones. Sick, I tell you sick. And Lebron had a disgusting dunk against Duncan earlier in the week. Lovin' those hoops hightlights!
Also sick, the Oil's loss in a shootout to the Canadians. Fernando Pasani and Jarret Stoll's efforts in said shootout were pathetic, to be blunt. Do we have anybody who can make a decent move in the shootout other than Hemsky and maybe Sykora? They better pick it up on the road or they could become buddies with the lowly Coyotes. Poor Gretz, I guess the word on the street is Phoenix is actively pursuing the unemployed Ken Hitchcock to try and stop the bleeding.

Switching it up a bit, went to see James Blunt last week at Rexall. I know what you're thinking, but didn't pay for the $65 (!!!??) ticket. Everybody knows, Fleets likes free stuff. I'm pretty sure the only person I know who would be jeolous is Pinner, but we all know he lacks musical taste (Jann Arden anyone?). So the show was alright but not exactly mind-blowing. The only thing keeping me entertained was his facial expressions as he sang on the big screen. The best part of the night was the two cover songs he did: Supertramp's "breakfast in America" and my favorite Pixies song ("Where is my Mind").

So this weekend is the official swearing in of Jabonii BP as a full-fledged lawyer. You can get the scoop on this momentus event here, on the rarely updated Jabronii blog. http://jabronitimes.blogspot.com/
Maybe Laura B will start to recoup all the money she's put into this investment once he starts actually putting his education to work. Maybe I'm being hard on BP, I mean who wouldn't want this man representing them in a court of law?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Lastly, a quick shoutout (not to be confused w/ the shootout) to my buddy Red and his lovely wife. They just had their second girl. Congrats, guys! Cigars, anyone?

And another shoutout to RM. And....I'm out.
