Interpol coming...here?!!

The word on the street is one of my top three faves is coming to town. That's right kiddies, Interpol is rumored to be hitting our fair city this spring. This may not excite 99% of the people I know but it's pretty sweet. I don't really care if they're going to be at Coachella and Sasquatch as well. This New York quartet is one of those bamds you don't miss any time you have a chance to see them live. I saw them once at the commodore in Vancity and thinking of that show still gives me chills down my spine. Think what you will of their actual records but viewing them in the flesh is a whole different story. See you there all you indie kids!

Staying with music...Pretty much the most hyped record to come out this year been released and, in my eyes, it hasn't dissapointed. The Arcade Fire's "neon bible" is the first record in a long long time that I've actually didn't try to listen to before it was released. Sure they are a little overexposed at the moment but I've been with them since the early days and they are Canadian, eh! They certainly went out of their way to come up with some serious anthemic songs which keep building to a feverish pitch until you're literally jumping out of your chair to keep up. My favorites include "keep the car running", "no cars go", "intervention" and "(antichrist television blues)". The latter sounds like the Boss (that's Springsteen), only actually catchy and relevant. And AF being another killer live act, I can hardly wait to see how they recreate these songs in that setting. Oooeee!

In hockey news...I gotta weigh in on the whole Chris Simon debacle. Just imagine if he would have hit the guy in the throat. We might have had another Bertuzzi incident on our hands, only worse. He could have easily killed him and then what would he have said, "Uhh, sorry." He's just lucky, that's all. That was total intent to injure and throwing him out of the league would have been justified, in my eyes. It's not the first time Simon's done something so he should really know better.
