More Money on the Way?
Apparently discussions are underway this week to decide whether Albertans will be getting another surplus check this year. Ralph the dog is all for it but I'm assuming he does not have much clout anymore since he's on his way out. The surplus this year totalled a whopping 8.7 Billion dollars, a new record. I'm all for getting more free cash. Anybody who says they didn't like getting that check earlier this year is obviously lying. As much as I'd like to see it going to social programs, education and healthcare, having that money in front of me makes me forget about what's right or wrong. It might be different if I was wealthy or something but I'm not at that point yet so I'll take anything I can get,
I got this book recently called
"Behind The Beat".It takes and runs with the idea of going into the studios of some of today's hottest hip-hop producers. The only reading here is small descriptions of each producer. The real selling point is the pictures of the studios including what equipment they use and how they have it set up.
It also helps that I get to see more than usual of some of my favorite djs like Dan The Automator, Cut Chemist, Dj Premier, J dilla (R.I.P) and my all-time favorite, Dj Shadow. Included in the book was a bonus CD with music from some of the artists in the book. And this isn't no toss in freebie, it's actually got some seriously good cuts including an extended mix of one of my faorite DJ Shadow tunes. This is really worth checking out if you're into good hip-hop and the people who make it.
Joke of the day (or year for that matter):
A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel in his pants. The bartender says "Hey, why you got a steering wheel in your pants?"
The pirate replies "Arrrrr, it's driving me nuts!"
If that isn't ending on a high I don't know what is.
