Running With Scissors

Sunday, April 09, 2006

So I started running again this week. Alright, I never really ran regularly before but I'm buoyed but my sister's marathonian aspirations. I plan on giving her a run for her money (pardon the pun). I'm also motivated by the comments of one Katelyn Combs. In passing, I mentioned that I was going to run a half-marathon this summer but I was not totally serious about it. Then Ms. Combs, not really knowing the extent of my physical fitness, scoffed at the suggestion that I could actually do it. Well, that's really all the motivation I need.
Anywayz, my training this week consisted of a 25 minute run with a steep hill climb near the end and a 40 minute run with some stairs thrown in 2/3 of the way through. That was my first mistake. If you're going to do stairs don't do them near the end of a run. There's literally a 5o% chance that you will survive. I was one of the lucky ones this time but I've learned my lesson. I can definitely see why people have heart attacks while running. It was merely a slight stumble but it won't keep me from my ultimate goal, proving Katelyn Combs wrong.

Thanks bro...who knew I was an inspiration...I ended up running 2 hours 49 minutes today at an average pace of 5 minutes 50 sec per kilometer, burned 1994 calories so that means I get to pig out, which is a big part of fun! Btw, when is the big race? Keep me posted...
